Preparation:

1. Rinse: Wash the rice thoroughly.

2. Soak: Soak the rice and urad dal for at least 4 hours, then grind into a smooth batter.

3. Ferment: Allow the batter to ferment until risen and airy.

4. Cook: Steam for idli or cook on a pan for dosa.
