Preparation:

1. Rinse 1 cup Masoor Dal thoroughly under running water.

2. Cook with 3 cups water until the lentils become soft and creamy.

3. Heat oil and prepare a tempering with mustard seeds, cumin, garlic and curry leaves.

4. Mix the tempering into the cooked dal and serve hot with rice or chapati.
